FRIENDLINESS AND APPROACHABILITY

FRIENDLINESS AND APPROACHABILITY

        By Margaret Kent

Treat every man as worth of a friendly hello. This attitude will minimize male fears of rejection. Just smiling a warm hello at every man, whether he's your paper boy or lawyer, will give you the reputation of being a friendly person and make it easier for men to approach and meet you.

This doesn't mean that you should offer sexual invitations and longing looks. You can achieve approachability just by smiling, exchanging the civilities of the day, and offering one though of recognition - say, "It's always pleasant to see you and say hello."

Do so with every man in your life. You'll develop a habit of making men happy to see you, and you'll become more comfortable with male friendliness. As a result, eligible men will speak to you, including men you thought were unavailable or didn't exist in your world.

You may fear that your friendly reputation or your high approachability will attract men, but not the superior man you want. Don't worry. Your ideal man views himself as superior to other men. For this reason, he's not going to approach you if he's unsure of a friendly reception. After all, he's afraid that if you reject him, people will find out, and it will be a public humiliation. If the man of your choice sees that you extend the courtesies of the day to all men, however, he will dash over, believing that he can impress you.

Let's imagine that you are at a party and a handsome stranger named Carl catches your eye. You want to dance with him. When Al comes over and asks you for a dance, you say no because you want to keep yourself free for Carl. When Bill comes over, you turn him down for the same reason. Do you honestly think that Carl, who has seen you rejected two men, is going to run the risk of being reject, too? Emphatically no! But if you had accepted Al's and Bill's invitation, Carl might have mustered the courage to come over, too.
