EXCHANGING TELEPHONE NUMBERS
By Margaret KentWhen a man asks you for your telephone number, ask him for his as well. Don't give your number to a man who won't give you his. And, to be even more cautious, give him just your cell number or work number - home numbers come in to play when you feel comfortable with each other. Once you have his number, use it. Verify that number is really his before you date him.
If you are not comfortable calling up a man, remember this call is only a "polite" gesture to acknowledge that indeed it was a mutual pleasure to meet. Many men have bad memories of women giving them wrong numbers so as to never be found. The more the man likes you upon meeting, the surer he must be that.
1/ you are who you say you are.
2/ he can contact you at the numbers you provided him.
3/ you'd welcome a phone call from him.
A two-minute call to say that you were glad you met, and that you would like to have a cup off coffee with him since you found him interesting, makes it easy for the man to take the next step in dating. The days of waiting for a man to make the first move are long gone!
Begin your dating relationship in the daytime and in public places. Delay the more intimate encounters until you are more sure of the man and your relationship with him.
