THE SWEETEST RELATIONSHIP

         A young woman wrote to an advice columnist, explaining that over time she had come to realize that adding sex to a relationship can cause pain. She said she lost her virginity as a teenager to a boy who then told her that he already had a girlfriend. In the fifteen years that followed, she had "dozens" of failed sexual relationships. She said she become wiser and now understands that moving too quickly to sex can result in "pain and loneliness." She describes her current romance as one that involves many hours of talking and laughing and no more than hand-holding. She describes it as "by far the sweetest relationship" she had ever known."
